Our Westward Adventure
We've been staying around home for several weeks and getting kinda restless so we decided to check out the mountains to the west. Last Sunday afternoon we filled up the car with gas and started driving west with no real goal in mind other than to explore the area a little.
We headed out on the Cherokee Foothill Scenic Highway. After about an hour we pulled over at Cowpens National Park. We wandered around the trails and got a little exercise and quite a bit of sun. (The Battle of Cowpens was fought around 1780 during the Revolutionary War.)

Following our approximately 2 mile walk in 90 degree weather, we were ready for something cold to drink and some lunch. We continued our westward journey and ended up in Chesnee, SC at the Bantam Chef. The exterior explains it all. It was kinda cafeteria style or church/fundraiser dinner with men and women of all ages helping out in the kitchen and dining roon.

After lunch we headed northwest towards Asheville, NC and the Blue Ridge Mountains. Korey enjoyed driving the mountain roads in his Saab 9-5. (I only got a little car sick.) It was a beautiful day for a drive, as long as the air conditioning was running.

On the way home we stopped by my discount store!
